It's been a while since I've done a journal post and the truth is I'm not very involved with the Deviant Art Community. However it is my hope that those few people that do follow me will see this and then spread the word. I am positive that you've heard about this before. For the first time since I can honestly remember learning about Invisible Children, about what they do, and joining in the fight against Joseph Kony six years ago, the world has blown up with information about him. It's amazing to see that every other post on my tumblr dash is about him, that he's all over my facebook, and that people all around the world are crying out loudly for justice.

So if you are one of the few who haven't heard about him, here's your chance. Joseph Kony has been the leader of the Lord's Resistance Army for the past 26 YEARS. During his reign of chaos, he has abducted over 30,000 children, forcing girls into sex slavery and hoisting guns into young boys hands, forcing them to fight as children soldiers. 440,000+ families have been displaced from their homes which makes it easier for Kony to attack. The thing is, Kony isn't fighting for ANYTHING. He's fighting simply to keep his power.

Eight years ago in 2003, 3 young filmmakers went to Uganda simply to experience a new world. What they found was more than they bargained for. They met a young boy named Jacob, who like many children, had been displaced from their homes and had become night walkers in hopes of escaping Joseph Kony and the LRA. Jacob had been captured by the LRA but had escaped unlike his brother who died trying to. He told these young men his story and brought to light a conflict that a majority of people did not even know existed. Jason Russell promised Jacob then that they would stop Joseph Kony and end the pointless war which had ruined the lives of so many children. Since then, Invisible Children has grown to be one of the most well known non-profit organizations and has even made it possible for the US to send advisers over to help find and stop Joseph Kony.

However, the job isn't done yet. Joseph Kony is still at large and has changed tactics to avoid capture. The problem is, unless people still keep talking about Joseph Kony, it is a very real possibility that the US will call back their troops and this war could continue. It's continued long enough. This is the year we are going to make Joseph Kony famous. This is the year where we'll make sure every human being knows his name, his crimes, and the affect he has had on the world. This is the year where we'll bring him to justice. But we need EVERYONE'S help to do it. Please spread the word. Contact everyone you know. Tell everyone you know. Where you live shouldn't determine whether you live. Lets bring Kony to justice and end his reign on terror in 2012.
